Why does my garage door only open 6–10″ from the ground?

Why aren’t my garage door opener remotes working?
First thing to change is the battery. If you recently installed LED light bulbs in your opener, and then the problem started, take these out and install Garage door opener bulbs. If you are still having issues, call us.
What are the benefits of an insulated garage door?
A garage door opening represents a large opening in your home’s thermal barrier. An insulated garage door will better insulate your home thus reducing the amount of energy required for heating and cooling. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation. Insulated doors are also more rugged, more quiet when opening and closing, and reduce noise coming from the outside. The right door is based on your needs, and whether your garage is attached to your home.
What maintenance is suggested for my garage or overhead door?
While we suggest a professional undertake any major repairs, there are some steps you can take to maintain your door. They are:
- Periodically lubricate the hinges, rollers, springs, and other moving parts on your garage, just make sure you use any Garage Door Spray, which you can buy at any big box store. Give us a call to help you determine the best methods for lubricating your specific door.
- Inspect the rollers every six months and replace any that are worn or broken, or call us to have them replaced.
- Follow the manufacturers instructions when needing to re-finish your door. Painting a door will add weight to your door and can shorten the life of the existing springs.
How do I know if my door is properly balanced?
A properly balanced garage door should be able to be stopped mid-travel without drifting down or up when operated manually. We recommend that only a properly trained professional make any adjustments to the spring system.
What should I know about garage door durability?
Garage Door Springs
A “cycle” is one full opening and closing of the door. Garage door torsion springs are rated by cycle life, with 10,000 cycles as the industry standard minimum. The average spring breaks about every 7 to 12 years with average usage for the recommended product. Whenever a torsion springs breaks, all springs should be replaced. Contact us to help.
Garage Door Damage
The leading causes of garage door damage and/or replacement include lack of maintenance, corrosion, and being hit by vehicles. A proper maintenance schedule for a garage door includes lubrication of the rollers, bearings, pulleys, and springs twice a year; painting or refinishing of any door surface is based on a particular manufacturer’s recommendation.

DO NOT let children (or adults) play “beat the door.” It is dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. Adults should set a good example. Know how to use the emergency release, in case someone is pinned by the door.
DO NOT let children play with or use the transmitters or remote controls. Always place and store them out of the reach of children. The pushbutton wall control should be out of the reach of children and away from all moving parts. Mount and use the button where you can clearly see the moving garage door.
